| Sumario: | A small facet of one of the Jesuit-Guaranitic imprints is addressed in this work. The De la diferencia entre lo temporal y eterno of the Jesuit John Eusebio Nieremberg, translated into Guarani by Fr. Joseph Serrano and printed in 1705. The study has put us on the path of the circulation of materials for evangelization on both sides of the Atlantic and the Pacific and in the deep Europe, the one that the Jesuit Silvestro Landini called "le nostre Indie". We study here a testimony of the visual component of the spirituality and the evangelizing praxis of the Jesuits. Indeed, we will look at the series of engravings that the work brings to illustrate the meditation of the pains of hell in the context of what was called the postrimerías: death-judgment-heaven-hell. The engravings are finally compared with those of the work of the Jesuit Giovanni Pietro Pinamonti, Hell open to the Christian, to perceive the adaptations made on American soil. |
