Sumario:In this paper we present the role played by the Jesuits in the process of colonization and expansion from the center to the northwest of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. In it there are two important and differentiated moments: one, is the arrival in the region and province of Sinaloa and the other in Sonora. It is also explained how the Ignatians pacified and evangelized this territories, the Jesuit-military combination was replaced by that of the Jesuit-Indian missionaries.Finally, it is mentioned how the neighbors and missionaries began to clash over the control of indigenous labor that will have critical moments throughout the eighteenth century.
