Sumario:One of the major conflicts involving the Society of Jesus in Paraguay Province, during the seventeenth century was not the issue involving the encomiendas and the bandeirantes invasions, but the conflict with the bishop of Asunción, the Franciscan priest Don Bernardino de Cárdenas. This article aims to analyze what were the terms used to describe things the Society of Jesus and build a antijesuítica image in the allegations made by the Bishop of Asunción, showing how these were disseminated, and the consequences, which were from the charges of heresy in Jesuit catechisms to the fire Asunción College for almost eight years of conflict.
