| Sumario: | The presence of a free end a removable partial dentures involves a major problem in the clinic. In fact, it is known that there is difficulty in treating multiplying by 2.5 the risk of complications. The gaps without posterior abutment are difficult to restore later, require a support tooth and mucosa. The oral mucosa and the ligament periodontal of the abutments teeth respond differently to the loads. This difference in behavior of teeth and mucosa is what has led to the design of removable partial dentures to be rigid or resilient characteristics. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the deformation of different extra coronary attachments systems; and to determine through strain gauge analysis the loads that each system causes on the most distal pillar elements that these attachments carry. An experimental model of the partially edentulous upper maxilla of Kennedy class I was constructed to measure the deformation that occurs in the most distal dental elements. Three extra coronary precision attachments were analyzed: rod attachment (RA), strategy (SA), and Anker system (AS) to determine and compare their behavior in later bilateral teeth (Kennedy class I) in the upper jaw. The results showed that at the deformation and at a load of 10 dan (decanewton), AS attachments presented, less deformation in the distal elements carrying said attachments while RA presented the highest values. |
