| Sumario: | The article studiesprovincial party organizations, through the analysis of electoral processes, recruitment patterns and candidates trajectories; which are approached through a qualitative methodological strategy. It presents a case study about Frente Cívico, the party in office in Santiago del Estero, considering the period 2005-2013. The party is concentrated on the top and, at the same time, decentralized in the base, the same structure of the previous governing party, the Peronism. The emergency of FrenteCívico does not suppose the replacement ofapolitical elite for other one, but a change in the positions near and far away from the political center and, in some cases, the permanency of politicians with personal political capital. In the courseof municipal elections, party conflicts are resolved in the territory and new members of the governing party emerge. The electoral processes appear as central moments of powerdispute. The article contributes tonuance the vision of provincial politicsas exclusively concentrated in the governor, and it shows certain continuities regarding electoral practices and political personnel in the successive parties in office. |
