Sumario:Given the importance of the perception of social support on mental health, it is essential to have assessment instruments with evidence of validity for use in the local context. This study proposes to evaluate the factorial structure, internal reliability and external validity of the Interpersonal Support Assessment List (LESI-12) in a sample of 459 adults. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the three-factor model presents adequate fit indices (SRMR = .06; CFI = .97; NNFI = .97; IFI = .97). The dimensions of the instrument evidenced an acceptable internal consistency (.78 ≤ Ꞷ). The external validity analysis revealed a strong inverse relationship with measures of depressive symptomatology, as suggested by the literature. It is concluded that the three-factor solution of the LESI-12 is theoretically consistent and coherent with the literature, and this presents evidence in favor of its use in the Argentine context.
