Sumario:Migraine is a neurological chronic condition with recurrent episodes of pain and autonomic symptoms. Migraine is estimated to affect 14% of the world's population, causing significant personal and social burden. The WHO considers this condition the second most common non-fatal burden. Chronic migraine (CM) is associated with greater headache-related disability, lower quality of life, and increased healthcare consumption. The HIT-6 questionnaire is a tool used to measure the impact of headaches at work, home, school, and social life. The aim of the study was to evaluate the functional impact of MC at the National Clinics Hospital with HIT-6 between August 2024 and June 2025. A prospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted. Inclusion criteria: patients over 18 years of age, diagnosed with CM, and signed informed consent. Exclusion criteria: psychiatric comorbidity, inability to provide informed consent, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and chronic illnesses that may limit CM treatment. The HIT-6 questionnaire was used. Chi-square tests were employed to analyze categorical variables. A total of 61 patients were analyzed, with a mean age of 40 years (range: 20-88). Female predominance (91%). Among patients, 84.79% reported experiencing intense pain very often or always, and 78.27% indicated that this pain very often or always limited their ability to carry out usual daily activities. Additionally, 80.44% of patients needed to lie down, corresponding in all cases p < 0.01. In the last 4 weeks: 65.22% of the patients reported feeling too tired for daily activities due to headache very often/always, 69.57% expressed feeling irritated by their headache very often/always, and 63.05% presented limitation in their ability to concentrate on work or daily activities with a p < 0.01 in all cases. Regarding the overall HIT-6 scores, 91% of patients experienced a very severe impact, 4.35% experienced some impact, and 4.35% experienced little impact. In conclusion, CM produces a severe functional impact on activities of daily living.
