Al! the patients older than 14 vears oId \ho assisted to the Hospital Nacional de Clínicas Central (ivard lor acote diarrhea, durine,the per01s: A( 1 5-12-89 to 15- 03-90), B( 15-12-93to 15-03-94)andC( ¡ 5-12-94 to 15-03-95), vere included. 594 ptients vere studied: 337 ftmale(56.7%)and257 male, 143 in the period A. 250 in B and 201 iii C. Che means SD ¿i,-,e vas 34.6w 13.3 and stool lose pei'dayataclrnission7.3±4.7. Eightvsix percent of patients presented 1 iqu id consistent stool, 89.6% abdominal pain. 44.7% vomiting and 1 8.8% bloodv stools. The rate of patients who consultecl Central (ivard rcferring acote diarrhea increased Írom period A (2.4%) to B (3.6 1%); p=0.002 and decreased form B to C (2.85%); r00 1 .
