| Sumario: | A Direct Microscopic Exam (DME)- in 40x with KOH at 40% and heat- applied on materials obtained by sciapingfrom injuries on patienis infected with superficial mycosis, results effective in the detection and identification of infectious organisms based oniheir morphological features. This exam requires the ability of an experienced medical professional doe to the fact thai the mycouc clement are not typical or are found in very small amounts. In this study we applied the calcofluor white and lluorescence iechnique togeiher with the DME with KOH at 401,11. and heat. In order lo do it, 100 sarnples obiained by scraping from skin of sniall and big folds and nails from feeis and hands, sere analyzed. Wc found a lower perceniage of positive (+) DME with KOI-{ al 40171 and heat, than with the calcofluor white and Fluorescencc Technique. an841/0 and 9014 respectively.Through the laiter, a higher amouni of elcmcnts with fungi (hifas, macro and microconidias) were observed, and it vas posible to ci cari y see the morph ol ogical charactcristics of ihese elements. |
