With the purpose of assessing the current program and to adequate its activities to the students - needs, we perform periodical evaluations based on the opinions of the participanis involved. During 2002, a new academic plan was implemented for the optional Module "Introduction to Family Medicine", destined to generate professional abilities according to the postulates of the biopsychosocial paradigm. The objective of this study is to evaluate de development of this new academic proposal. We analyzed 132 questionnaires (83% of the population) filled by students that attended the Module during 2002 and 2003. The evaluation consisted on structured questions (answers m numeric scale) and open questions. With the closed questions, we obtained a majority of favorable opinion about the progress of the activities, the modality of work and performance of the educational team. Open questions were classified according to the coincidence and diversity of the opinions. We concluded that this evaluation is appropriate to optimize [he progress of the course. Froni the suggestions provided by the students. we concluded that it would be useful lo extend eyewilness activities and to start earlier the rotatioris al the Department of Family Medicine. After these modifications are niade. it would be helpful to perform a new evaluation. Con la finalidad de mantener la vigencia de un programa propuesto y adecuar el dictado de actividades a las necesidades evidenciadas por los estudiantes es recomendable efectuar evaluaciones en base a las opiniones de los actores involucrados. En el año 2002 se implementó una nueva propuesta curricular para el Módulo optativo Introducción a la Medicina Familiar orientada a generar competencias profesionales conforme a los postulados del paradigma biopsicosocial. Es objetivo del presente trabajo evaluar el desarrollo de esta nueva propuesta curricular. Se analizaron 132 encuestas (83% de la población) de estudiantes que cursaron el Módulo durante los años 2002 y 2003. La evaluación se efectuó a través de preguntas estructuradas (con respuestas con escala numérica) y preguntas abiertas. En las preguntas cerradas se obtuvo una mayoría con opinión favorable en cuanto al desarrollo de las actividades planteadas, la modalidad de trabajo y el desempeño de los docentes. Las preguntas abiertas fueron clasificadas teniendo en cuenta la coincidencia y la diversidad de las opiniones. Se puede concluir que esta herramienta de evaluación es adecuada para optimizar el desarrollo de la materia. De las sugerencias vertidas por los estudiantes se hace necesario ver la posibilidad de extender el tiempo de duración de las actividades presenciales así corno anticipar el inicio de la rotación por el Servicio de Medicina Familiar.
