This study describes a university outreach initiative, which links the community with the School of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba (FCEFyN), the Special Rescue Group of Calamuchita (GERS) and the Provincial Administration of Water Resources (APRHi). The initiative allows bringing the University closer to the community within the framework of one of its fundamental pillars, which is university outreach. This outreach project can be called co-creative because citizens participate in all stages of the scientific process. The community has successfully defined the problem, collected and analyzed data, monitored the phenomenon of cyanobacterial blooms and thought of solutions to be implemented. Undergraduate and graduate students were able to delve into the subject of eutrophication and the impact of cyanobacterial blooms and they could develop soft skills such as empathy, assertive communication, active listening and teamwork. La participación de la comunidad en proyectos de investigación científicos, abiertos y colaborativos implica ciencia ciudadana. La población que habita en las cercanías de un embalse es la principal afectada por la presencia de floraciones de cianobacterias, y suele interesarse en colaborar con tareas de investigación, incorporando sus conocimientos, herramientas y recursos. En el presente trabajo se describe una iniciativa de extensión universitaria que vincula a la comunidad con la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales (FCEFyN) de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC), el Grupo Especial de Rescate y Salvamento de Calamuchita (GERS), escuelas primarias rurales y la Administración Provincial de Recursos Hídricos (APRHi). La iniciativa permite acercar la Universidad a la comunidad en el marco de uno de los pilares fundamentales, que es la extensión universitaria como complemento de proyectos de investigación. El proyecto de extensión es del tipo cocreativo debido a que los ciudadanos participan en todas las etapas del proceso científico. La comunidad ha logrado definir el problema, recoger y analizar datos, monitorear el fenómeno de las floraciones de cianobacterias y pensar en soluciones a implementar. Los estudiantes de grado y posgrado lograron profundizar en la temática de eutrofización e impacto de las floraciones de cianobacterias y desarrollar habilidades blandas como la empatía, comunicación asertiva, escucha activa y trabajo en equipo.
