However, this definition does not approximate the reality of the hospitals of past centuries. This paper analyzes the evolution of hospitals from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age from an architectural and health care point of view. The hospital of the Innocents is highlighted as an example of a hospital between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age and they are compared to hospitals today. La palabra hospital se define como un establecimiento destinado al diagnóstico y tratamiento de enfermos, donde a menudo se practican la investigación y la docencia. Sin embargo esta definición poco se aproxima a la realidad de los hospitales de los siglos pasados. En este trabajo se analiza la evolución de los hospitales desde la Edad Media a la Edad Moderna desde el punto de vista arquitectónico y de cuidados sanitarios. Se resalta el hospital de los Inocentes como ejemplo de hospital entre la Edad Media y la Edad Moderna y se comparan con los hospitales en la actualidad. A palavra hospital é definida como um estabelecimento para o diagnóstico e tratamento de pacientes, onde a pesquisa e o ensino são frequentemente praticados. No entanto, essa definição não se aproxima da realidade dos hospitais dos séculos passados. Este artigo analisa a evolução dos hospitais da Idade Média à Idade Moderna do ponto de vista arquitetônico e de assistência à saúde. O hospital dos Inocentes é destacado como um exemplo de hospital entre a Idade Média e a Idade Moderna e eles são comparados aos hospitais hoje. Sanatorio Allende.
