Castelan of the City of Resistance, Provinceof Chaco in the period from October 2016 to May 2017. Material and method: A cross-sectional, observational and descriptiv estudy in post-operated pediátrica pendectomy patients with surgical site infection in the Surgical Clinic Service of the Pediatric Hospital Dr. Avelino L. Castelan. Forthe data collection, a form was designed that contains the characterization a variable, the information was collected from the clinical histories. Forth estatistical analysis, the Excel program isused. Results: The frequency of infection of the surgical site was 50% (95% CI between 38.41 and 61.58%), itwas more frequent in themale sex 62.5%, the type of infection was 50% deepinfection and was more frequent in children. Conclusion: The frequency of SSI in pediatric patient sundergoing appendectomy is high, itis more frequent in male patients and in these, the type of infection that prevailed was deep infection.The hospital stay was prolonged, in most cases it was used for the treatment Metronidazole and Gentamicin, in combination with other less frequent antibiotics. El objetivo fue describir las características de los pacientes pediátricos de 7 a 12 años en el post-operatorio mediato de apendicetomía, con infección del sitio quirúrgico, en el Servicio de Clínica Quirúrgica del Hospital Pediátrico Dr. Avelino L. Castelán de la Ciudad de Resistencia, Provincia del Chaco en el periodo de octubre del 2016 a mayo del 2017.Material y método: Estudio transversal, observacional y descriptivo en Pacientes Pediátricos Post-operados de apendicectomía con Infección del sitio quirúrgico en el Servicio de Clínica Quirúrgica del Hospital Pediátrico Dr. Avelino L. Castelán. Para la recolección de los datos se diseñó un formulario que contiene a las variables de caracterización, la información fue recolectada de las historias clínicas. Para el análisis estadístico se utiliza el programa Excel. Gráfico N° 4 Distribución del tipo de antibiótico más utilizado registrado en historia clínica del Servicio de Clínica Quirúrgica del Hospital Dr. Avelino L. Castelán año 2017 (n=40) Resultados :La frecuencia de infección del sitio quirúrgico fue del 50% (IC al 95% entre 38,41 y 61,58%), fue más frecuente en el sexo masculino el 62,5%, el tipo de infección fue 50% de infección profunda y fue más frecuente en los niños. Conclusión: La frecuencia de ISQ en los pacientes pediátricos operados de apendicectomía es alta, es más frecuente en los de sexo masculino y en estos, el tipo de infección que prevaleció fue la infección profunda. La estancia hospitalaria fue prolongada, en la mayoría de los casos se utilizó para el tratamiento Metronidazol y Gentamicina, en combinación con otros antibióticos menos frecuentes.
