| Sumario: | That 15 cm device in your pocket or on your desk is much more than a communication tool with your family, colleagues, and friends. Your mobile phone can be an important ally in archaeological fieldwork. In this respect, its relatively low cost, portability, intuitive use, and versatility make it a useful tool, which compensates for certain limitations compared to specific instruments, such as Swiss Army knives. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to demonstrate the use of mobile phones in archaeological work in order to assess both their potential and their limits. For these purposes, applications are explained and exemplified with applications that make possible three basic tasks of field archaeology: recording and measuring, georeferencing, and photogrammetric modeling. |
