The objective of this work is to contribute to the discussion of the incorporation of new technologies to improve the conservation of human remains, from the implementation of short-range photogrammetry. The study was carried out on human skulls that are under the care of the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Province of Córdoba, Argentina. Forensic Anthropology and short-range photogrammetry together make up an interdisciplinary field of study where our objective is focused on incorporating new documentation techniques for processing sensible remains and improving the conservation. The incorporation of a digital technique in the practice of this discipline allows us to propose an approach from another perspective to specific problems in this field, allowing the generation of new explanatory possibilities for issues that continually arise during the traditional work of forensic disciplines. In this sense, in the long term, we are interested in generating an information base that in the future will be transformed into a virtual repository with 3D records of human skulls of forensic, bioanthropological, historical and archaeological interest, and in the short term, optimizing the registration and conservation tasks of human remains through their three-dimensional digitization to be able to contribute to the identification and documentation tasks of judicial investigations that enter the institution. On the other hand, we are interested in discussing some ethical concepts focused on the growing digitization of human remains and the care that must be prioritized for their correct diffusion considering that at least in our country there is legislation that protects the exhibition of human remains. |

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo aportar a la discusión de la incorporación de nuevas tecnologías para mejorar la conservación de restos humanos, a partir de la implementación de una técnica como fotogrametría de rango corto. El estudio se llevó a cabo con cráneos humanos que se encuentran bajo cuidado del Instituto de Medicina Forense de la Provincia de Córdoba, Argentina. La Antropología forense y la fotogrametría de rango corto, componen en su conjunto un campo de estudio interdisciplinario donde se centra nuestro objeto: incorporar nuevas técnicas de procesamiento y conservación de restos sensibles. La incorporación de una técnica digital en la práctica de esta disciplina permite proponer un abordaje desde otra mirada a problemáticas específicas de este campo, permitiendo generar nuevas posibilidades explicativas a cuestiones que continuamente surgen durante las labores tradicionales de las disciplinas forenses. En este sentido, nos interesa a largo plazo, generar una base de información que en el futuro sea transformada en un repositorio virtual con registros 3D de cráneos humanos de interés forense, bioantropológico, arqueológico e histórico y a corto plazo optimizar las tareas de registro y conservación de restos humanos mediante su digitalización tridimensional para poder contribuir en las tareas de identificación y documentación de las investigaciones judiciales que ingresan a la institución. Por otro lado, nos interesa discutir algunos conceptos éticos centrados en la creciente digitalización de restos humanos y los cuidados que se deben priorizar para su correcta difusión considerando que por lo menos en nuestro país existe legislación que protege la exhibición de restos humanos. O objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para a discussão da incorporação de novas tecnologias para melhorar a conservação de restos mortais humanos, a partir da implementação da fotogrametria de curto alcance. O estudo foi realizado em crânios humanos que estão sob os cuidados do Instituto de Medicina Legal da Província de Córdoba, Argentina. A Antropologia Forense e a fotogrametria de curto alcance constituem juntas um campo de estudo interdisciplinar onde nosso objetivo está focado na incorporação de novas técnicas de documentação para o processamento de vestígios sensíveis e melhoria da conservação. A incorporação de uma técnica digital na prática desta disciplina permite-nos propor uma abordagem a partir de outra perspectiva para problemas específicos desta área, permitindo a geração de novas possibilidades explicativas para questões que surgem continuamente durante o trabalho tradicional das disciplinas forenses. Nesse sentido, no longo prazo, temos interesse em gerar uma base de informações que futuramente será transformada em um repositório virtual com registros 3D de crânios humanos de interesse forense, bioantropológico, histórico e arqueológico, e no curto prazo, otimizar as tarefas de registo e conservação de restos mortais através da sua digitalização tridimensional para poder contribuir nas tarefas de identificação e documentação das investigações judiciais que entram na instituição. Por outro lado, interessa-nos discutir alguns conceitos éticos voltados para a crescente digitalização de restos mortais e os cuidados que devem ser priorizados para a sua correta difusão considerando que pelo menos em nosso país existe uma legislação que protege a exposição de restos mortais.
