Sumario:In the area surrounding Bayo Hill, in the Santa Cruz province, a serie of rock shelters and open-air sites have been identified. This sector is located in a strategic position between the mountainous region in the north of the province, and the western sector of the Deseado Massif. From a geographical point of view, it can be thought of as a connecting space between both regions. In addition, it is located in the vicinity of two areas of great importance for regional archaeology; Pampa del Asador and the Pinturas River basin. This study presents the first body of data generated from the work carried out at the Cerro Bayo 2. Although the results are preliminary, it was possible to obtain a closer understanding of the site’s chronology and occupational History. Different lines of evidence enabled the elaboration of some conclusions regarding the activities, and its link with nearby areas. At the same time, It was possible to discuss its use throughout time, and within a broader regional scale.
