Sumario:This paper presents part of the results obtained from the doctoral thesis carried out in the upper and middle basin of the Quinto River, in the east-central province of San Luis. The objectives were focused on two central aspects, in the first instance, to recognize the supply of lithic resources and to analyze the technological strategies used by local groups in relation to each identified raw material. The research was framed, in a general way, in the theoretical concepts of the Technological Organization and methodologies derived from the Distributional Archeology were applied for the work in the field. The lithic sources and raw materials were characterized by combining geological field and laboratory analysis, and the technomorphological study of the artifacts. It is concluded that in the study area the offer of lithic resources is broader and more varied than expected in the initial moments of the investigation. The exploitation of a variety of local and non-local rocks is also noted through a combination of technological strategies that show the circulation of resources and a wide knowledge of the available rocks by the societies that inhabited the Quinto river basin.
