Sumario:The use of malacofauna in archaeological sites of Western Pampa has a wide spatial and chronological distribution. The species identified correspond to gastropods and bivalves, both marine and freshwater. The distance of the deposits of marine malacofauna to the sites of the region indicates the economic, social and symbolic importance of these materials, for different uses. A description of the analyzed sets is presented in both residential and mortuary sites. Its significance is evaluated according to the contexts of discovery, the chronology and the different analytical spatial scales, in relation to the mobility and interaction networks of the pampean hunters-gatherers.
