In this way, what is considered to be two current and different popular librairies’ models is considered. From here, a characterization of each of the selected libraries is carried out in relation to the neighborhood community in which they are inserted and with which they work.Depending on the particularities that both popular libraries manifest in their actions, the notion of "the political" of Chantal Mouffe is incorporated to analyze how each one of them intervenes concretely in the dispute of meanings on community work, on human rights, and about the very scope of what it means to be a popular library. El artículo tiene como objetivo compartir el trabajo llevado a cabo por el Programa de Apoyo a Bibliotecas Populares de la Secretaría de Extensión de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba) junto a dos bibliotecas populares ubicadas en distintos barrios de la ciudad de Córdoba.Se parte de una presentación de la misión que este tipo de instituciones tuvieron desde su origen y se problematiza la actualidad de ella. De esta manera, se plantea lo que se consideran dos modelos vigentes y diferentes de Bibliotecas Populares. A partir de aquí, se realiza una caracterización de cada una de las bibliotecas elegidas en relación con la comunidad barrial en la cual se insertan y con la que trabajan.En función de las particularidades que ambas Bibliotecas Populares manifiestan en su accionar, se incorpora la noción de “lo político” de Chantal Mouffe para analizar de qué manera cada una de ellas interviene concretamente en la disputa de sentidos sobre el trabajo comunitario, sobre los derechos humanos, y sobre el alcance mismo de lo que significa ser una BP.
