| Sumario: | The main aspect that we will discuss in this work is the presentation of the law of specific heats by Dulong and Petit, from an experimental and theoretical point of view, comparing with the publication of Ludwig Boltzmann's doctoral thesis in 1866. According to Cássio C. Laranjeiras, it is in his thesis that Boltzmann will do the analytical demonstration of this law for the first time. Determined experimentally by the two French physicists and published on April 12, 1819, this law can be considered the starting point for changes in the interpretation of Newton's classical mechanics. Boltzmann, supported by Masson's work on calculating the speed of sound propagation in gases and the concept of entropy introduced by Clausius, proposes fundamental changes in the interpretation of the laws of thermodynamics. |
