In this work, which is part of a wider research, the problem of teaching the General Theory of Relativity in sec-ondary school is addressed, even though this theory is scarcely addressed even in physics degree courses. It analyzes what aspects of it should be addressed in secondary level, why and how it could be achieved from a perspective that integrates the theoretical frameworks of the Teaching for Understanding and the Nature of Science. The approach of the General Theory of Relativity is analyzed in several secondary, university and di-vulgation textbooks from the perspective "Physics First" and the results obtained in a survey made by students of the last year of secondary school, in order to identify the interest for some topics of physics linked to the General Theory of Relativity, or phenomena that it explains for this theory. From the analysis of the texts, the results of the quiz and the curricular designs, generative topics are proposed as well as goals and expected performances for both Gravitation and the General Theory of Relativity that could promote the understanding of main theory aspects that involve epistemological ruptures with Classical Mechanics and are indispensable for understanding phenomena of current interest for physics, technology and, fundamentally, for teenagers. En este trabajo, que forma parte de una investigación más amplia, se aborda la problemática de enseñar la teoría general de la relatividad en la escuela secundaria, aun cuando dicha teoría es escasamente abordada incluso en las carreras de grado de física. Se analiza qué aspectos de la misma deberían ser abordados en ese nivel educati-vo, por qué y cómo podría lograrse desde una perspectiva que integra los marcos teóricos de la enseñanza para la comprensión y de naturaleza de la ciencia. Se analiza el enfoque de la teoría en diversos libros de texto de ni-vel secundario, universitario y de divulgación desde la perspectiva “Física primero” y los resultados obtenidos en una encuesta realizada a alumnos del último año de la escuela secundaria, con el objetivo de identificar el interés de los mismos por algunos tópicos de física vinculados con la teoría general de la relatividad, o fenómenos que la misma explica. A partir del análisis de los textos, de los resultados de la encuesta y contemplando los diseños curriculares, se proponen tópicos generativos, metas y desempeños de comprensión esperados, tanto para gravitación, como para la teoría general de la relatividad, que podrían promover la comprensión de aquellos aspectos centrales de la teoría que implican rupturas epistemológicas respecto de la mecánica clásica y que, al mismo tiempo, son indispensables para comprender fenómenos de interés actual para la física, la tecnología y, fundamentalmente, para los adolescentes.
