In the absence of consensus, we conducted a historical and didactic study aiming at establishing the key ideas of a quantum model of emission and absorption of radiation with sufficient explanatory power to make it worthwhile. We also identified the key ideas of a model for quantums that can explain the behaviour of electrons and photons and which allow us to overcome the crisis produced by the introduction of the quantum model of emission and absorption of radiation. Taking into account the problems that historically led to the establishment of these models, we designed the problem based unit for teaching quantum physics in high school that we present in this article, paying special attention to the great steps that drive students to build the proposed models. La investigación didáctica no ha llegado a un consenso sobre cómo se deben abordar los cursos introductorios de física cuántica, tanto en lo referente a los contenidos que se deben enseñar como a la interpretación física de modelos fundamentales como la dualidad onda-partícula. Ante la falta de consenso, hemos llevado a cabo un estudio histórico y didáctico que nos ha permitido establecer las ideas clave de un modelo cuántico de emisión y absorción de radiación con la capacidad explicativa suficiente para que valga la pena ser enseñado. Así mismo, hemos identificado las ideas clave de un modelo de quántum que explica el comportamiento de los electrones y los fotones, lo que nos permite superar la crisis que ocasionó en la física la introducción del modelo cuántico de emisión y absorción de radiación. Aprovechando los problemas que históricamente llevaron al establecimiento de estos modelos, hemos diseñado la unidad problematizada para la enseñanza de la física cuántica en el bachillerato que presentamos en este artículo, haciendo especial hincapié en los grandes pasos que llevan a los estudiantes construir los modelos propuestos.
