The proposal of this article is to revisit a concept installed within the framework of Argentine social welfare policies since the last four decades: "the fight or the fight against poverty". To this end, the main social welfare policies designed since the return to democracy are replaced, which characterized the different recent historical periods, and implied challenges on the logics of state integration proposed by the National State. The objective of the work is to analyze the qualities that different generations of state interventions acquired in addressing the manifestations of the social question since the return to democracy, showing continuities, reformulations, tensions and latent debates before the forms off assistance. Durante el año 2023 se cumplen 40 años del retorno a la democracia en la República Argentina. La propuesta de este artículo es revisitar un concepto instalado en el marco de las políticas sociales asistenciales argentinas desde las últimas cuatro décadas: “la lucha o el combate contra la pobreza”. A tales fines, se reponen las principales políticas sociales asistenciales diseñadas desde el retorno a la democracia, las cuales caracterizaron a los diferentes períodos históricos recientes e implicaron desafíos sobre las lógicas de integración estatal propuesta por el Estado nacional. El objetivo del trabajo es analizar las cualidades que diferentes generaciones de intervenciones estatales adquirieron en el abordaje de las manifestaciones de la cuestión social desde el retorno a la democracia mostrando continuidades, reformulaciones, tensiones y debates latentes en torno a las formas de asistencia.
