They work hard to overcome urban poverty and residential segregation. The participation and commitment of the residents in the urbanization processes of shantytowns presuppose the sustainability of local development. In addition, there are adverse socio-urban factors and insufficient technological-environmental aspects. These situations are related to the weak and mutating participatory forces of social organizations in government efforts from the new political arenas. Dentro de los procesos de urbanización que se desarrollan en la provincia de Buenos Aires se describen dos experiencias: Villa Carlos Gardel en Morón y Villa Palito en La Matanza. En ellas se trabaja arduamente para superar la pobreza urbana y la segregación residencial. La participación y el compromiso de las/os residentes en los procesos de urbanización de villas presuponen la sustentabilidad del desarrollo local. Además, hay factores sociourbanos adversos y aspectos tecnológicos-ambientales insuficientes. Estas situaciones están relacionadas con las endebles y mutantes fuerzas participativas de las organizaciones sociales en las gestiones gubernamentales desde las nuevas arenas políticas.
