| Sumario: | This text shows what the contribution of academic debate has been in shaping social assistance, presenting different historical perspectives on the development of the field. To this end, in a first section, those readings with long-term historical pretence are presented; then those that appeared since the 1990s and emphasized some changes that social policy would have undergone under neoliberalism. Finally, it is noted in the debate, revitalized in the last decade, which places the discussion of the social assistance in the field of social rights and aims to be fought by a National Social Assistance Act. |
