spelling I10-R314-article-328742021-05-01T11:30:46Z A Leap to Hope in Troubled Times: Towards Prognostic Intelligence Un salto a la esperanza en tiempos convulsionados: Hacia la inteligencia pronóstica Iturrieta Olivares, Sandra convulsed times social work care and self-care prognostic intelligence tiempos convulsionados trabajo social cuidado y autocuidado inteligencia pronóstica In a context marked by the presence of Covid-19 in the world, and by the largest social revolt in Chilean history after the civic-military dictatorship, which demands the end of the radical neoliberal system, which was imposed in Chile from the coup of the State in 1973, it reflects on some results of two empirical investigations, with quantitative and qualitative approaches in Social Work, which show that those who work in the field of direct social intervention, that is, face to face with the people receiving their work, develop their work, in adverse contexts, and with low levels of professional satisfaction, so they demand instances of self-care that make sense to them. The exercise of prognostic intelligence for Social Work is proposed, that is, to look from the future to the present as if an apocalyptic or fortunate event had already happened, as a possible strategy for professional care and attention, and also, as a mode of analysis social work and therefore, an intervention strategy that enhances the public impact of Social Work, urging the professional / disciplinary group to break the presentism in which they are usually immersed, as a result of the counterproductive conditions in which they carry out their work. En un contexto marcado por la presencia del Covid-19 en el mundo –y por la revuelta social más grande de la historia chilena post dictadura cívico-militar, que demanda el fin del sistema neoliberal radical que se impuso en Chile a partir del golpe de Estado en 1973— se reflexiona sobre algunos resultados de dos investigaciones empíricas, con enfoques cuantitativos y cualitativos en trabajo social. Estos muestran que quienes se desempeñan en el campo de la intervención social directa, es decir cara a cara con las personas destinatarias de sus trabajos, desarrollan sus labores en contextos adversos, y con bajos niveles de satisfacción profesional; por lo que demandan instancias de autocuidado que les hagan sentido.
