Environmental pollution is an aspect most frequently dealt with by Chemistry, to characterize the origin and structure of pollutants. Little attention has been given to the topics related to Toxicology, and to the methods of its evaluation. The present work has as a didactic proposal to approach bioindication concepts using a plant organism by means of the Allium cepa test, which has characteristics that make its implementation suitable for classroom dynamics, allowing students to evaluate the ecotoxicity and genotoxicity of chemical substances or mixtures. This activity is a good trigger to approach the environmental issue from all areas, in addition to introducing the concepts of bioindicator and genetic toxicology, which are not currently incorporated in education programs and are part of everyday life. La temática ambiental fue incorporada en los últimos años a la curricula educativa, abordándose desde varias asignaturas por tratarse de un "tema transversal". La contaminación ambiental es un aspecto tratado más frecuentemente por la Química, para caracterizar el origen y la estructura de los contaminantes. Poca atención se ha dado a los tópicos relacionados con la Toxicología, y a los métodos de evaluación de la misma. El presente trabajo tiene como propuesta didáctica el abordar conceptos de bioindicación utilizan do un organismo vegetal mediante el Test de Allium cepa, que posee características que hacen adecuada su implementación en la dinámica áulica permitiendo la evaluación de la ecotoxicidad y de la genotoxicí dad de sustancias químicas o mezclas por parte de los alumnos. Esta actividad es un buen disparador para abordar el tema ambiental desde todas las áreas, además de introducir los conceptos de bioindicador y de toxicología genética, que no se encuentran actualmente incorporados en los programas de educación y son parte de la vida diaria.
