| Sumario: | We characterized practical laboratory activities included in Biology textbooks frequently used at secondary school level. By means of a qualitative design with content analysis techniques, 53 proposals of laboratory activities were analyzed. Data regarding inquiry levels and skills and about the pedagogical activities that favor investigation were generated. Most textbooks exhibit a very low level of inquiry; their scripts develop limited cognitive skills; and the activities that promote inquiry are very scarce. Some differences could be noticed among textbooks, as one of them proposes more pedagogical activities that promote inquiry than the other ones, although there is predominance of certain activities to the detriment of others. |
