It also seeks to analyzethe extent to which the proposed educational objectives were achieved. The supportedmethodological approach to teaching through research enables students to: understandthe collective and active mode of scientific production; extend their logical thinking by providing causal explanations; and develop their research skills. In order to understand thestudents’ perception of the methodological approach developed, the following instrumentsare used for the establishment of data: audio-visual recordings and field notes, portfoliosand interviews. The results indicate that the involvement of students in the context ofresearch makes ecology teaching, which is often understood as descriptive teaching andwith many names, become innovative, unexpected and attractive, resulting in meaningfullearning. Este artigo tem como objetivo descrever uma sequência didática referente à Ecologia,fundamentada no ensino por investigação, com alunos de uma turma do 3º ano do EnsinoMédio bem como avaliar o posicionamento dos alunos a respeito da metodologia de ensinoutilizada. Também busca analisar em que medida os objetivos de ensino propostos foramalcançados. A abordagem metodológica amparada no ensino por investigação possibilita aoaluno: compreender o modo coletivo e ativo da produção científica; ampliar seu raciocíniológico, realizando explicações causais; e desenvolver suas habilidades investigativas. Paracompreender a percepção dos alunos sobre a abordagem metodológica desenvolvida,utilizamos os seguintes instrumentos para a constituição dos dados: gravações audiovisuaise anotações de campo, portfólios e entrevistas. Os resultados apontam que o envolvimentodos alunos no contexto da investigação faz com que o ensino de ecologia, muitas vezesentendido como um ensino descritivo e com muitos nomes, torne-se inovador, inesperadoe atraente, ocasionando uma aprendizagem com sentido.
