Sumario:The 12th Public-Private Academic Exchange Conference (JIAPP) was recently held in the city of Córdoba, which is a meeting that brings together researchers, both trained and in training, who work in these two fields. Its main objective is to share, in an informal but rigorous way, the results of recent studies in the field of Ecophysiology and Management of Extensive Crops, with special interest in those framed in theses of the numerous Graduate Schools in Argentina. The JIAPP also changes its venue every year. In the 2024 edition, in charge of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba, it was decided to designate from now on this Conference with the name of "Dr. Alfredo Gabriel Cirilo", in honor of one of the most outstanding corn ecophysiologists in our country, as well as an active participant of the JIAPP. His colleagues, friends and numerous disciples celebrate this well-deserved recognition. This brief article is intended to recall his most relevant scientific and technological contributions, with emphasis on the studies corresponding to graduate theses, both his own and those directed or co-directed by him. The presentation is organized in three main stages of his career: postgraduate training at the Balcarce Integrated Unit (UIB), independent researcher of INTA at the Agricultural Experimental Station (EEA) of Pergamino, and Coordinator of the "National Network of Ecophysiology" and of the "National Program of Ecophysiology and Agroecosystems" of INTA.
