Avian influenza has left a devastating impact on wildlife, poultry industry and markets, spreading its presence worldwide in recent years. Although its impact on humans is limited, sporadic cases have been recorded, indicating that there is a risk of infection depending on the level of exposure, viral load and degree of pathogenicity of the virus.
