| Sumario: | The production of Eucalyptus sp. has climatic limitations due to low temperatures, varying frost resistance with different species and even among different clonal materials. A trial was carried out in the Center-South of Buenos Aires province where Eucalyptus sp. clonal materials were exposed to extreme cold in the field and their behavior was described. During the first winter a minimum of -8.4 °C (50 cm from the ground) was recorded, which meant severe damage to most of the materials. It was concluded that, of the clones tested, DDX00078 (Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus camaldulensis) stood out from the rest, being recommended for use in marginal areas with less severe thermal regimes than the site tested. |
