The object of this reserarch will be, in particular, the political culture of the party, understood both as a political organization (the maquina) both in its ideological-political aspects (the doctrina). The essay focuses on the period between 1930 and 1935. A momentum characterized by an initial loss of the UCR followed by the decision to abstain from all electoral competitions. Abstention was accompanied by the emergence of revolutionary episodes inspired and leaded by radical leaders. Beyond the abstention and revolutionary actions, the radical party was slowly abandoning the self-representation as the "party of the nation"; indeed, the idea that the UCR was a party interpreting only one part of society was taking shape. This revealed, on closer inspection, a profound change in the horizons of political culture to which the party was inspired. L’articolo intende ripercorrere il dibattito politico interno all’Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) negli anni immediatamente successivi al golpe del 1930. Oggetto d’indagine sarà, in particolare, la cultura politica del partito, intesa sia come idea di organizzazione politica (la maquina) sia nei suoi aspetti ideologico-politici (la doctrina). Il saggio si concentra sul periodo che intercorre tra il 1930 e il 1935. Una fase, questa, caratterizzata da un iniziale smarrimento dell’Ucr seguito dalla scelta di astenersi da tutte le competizioni elettorali. All’astensione si accompagnò l’insorgere di episodi rivoluzionari d’ispirazione radicale. All’ombra di astensione e moti rivoluzionari, il movimento radicale andava pian piano abbandonando l’autorappresentazione obbediente ai canoni del «partito della Nazione»; stava, infatti, prendendo forma l’idea che l’Ucr fosse un partito interprete di una sola parte della società.
