It began in the XVI century, with the fundation of the city of Vera, later called Corrientes. However, significative progress took place in the second half of the XVIII century with the development of cattle raising. From this moment, except for some interruptions due to civilian conflicts, most areas of the provincial territory were incorporated and transferred to the private dominion. In this way, by the end of the XIX century took form a land distribution structure whose main features remain in the present.
