Este trabajo aborda el problema de la historiografía sobre el pasado reciente en la Argentina desde el advenimiento de la democracia. Recorre algunos de sus tópicos y problemas principales e intenta mostrar una mirada de conjunto señalando avances y límites en este nuevo campo dentro del conocimiento histórico. Al mismo tiempo revisa algunos de los supuestos que han circulado con mayor fuerza dentro del área de estudios mencionada.
