Nevertheless, there are few excpetions, like La negra Angustias, directed by Matilde Landeta in 1949. Angutias, the protagonist, different as she was a coronel in one of Zapata’s troops with ideals such as justice and liberty for the poor. She was also reluctant to marry and to accept the oppression of any man, showing behavior conventionally considered to be masculine. Regarding the cinematographic environment, I rescue the vision of a woman director, a pioneer in Mexican movies, who went against the flow of female stereotypes with the intention of redressing the role of women in Mexican in History. El cine mexicano de la Época de Oro popularizó la imagen de las mujeres que participaron en la Revolución Mexicana con la figura de la “Adelita”, representación repetitiva de valores como la valentía, la abnegación, el matrimonio y la maternidad. No obstante, existen casos excepcionales, como el de la negra Angustias, dirigida por Matilde Landeta, en 1949. Su protagonista, Angustias, resulta una representación disímil, siendo ésta coronela de una tropa zapatista, con ideales como justicia y libertad para los pobres; asimismo, se muestra renuente al matrimonio y al yugo de cualquier hombre, mostrando comportamientos considerados convencionalmente masculinos. Respecto al entorno cinematográfico, rescato la visión de una mujer directora, pionera en el cine mexicano, que fue a contracorriente de los estereotipos femeninos, con la intención de resarcir el papel de las mujeres en la Historia.
