Sumario:This paper analyzes the role of newspapers in shaping and developing political conflict during Juárez Celman’s presidency. For this purpose, we study the case of the newspaper El Orden in Tucumán province, examining the lawsuits against the press by the offences to the honor and the attacks on the newspaper editor. It seeks to highlight the articulation between these incidents and the newspaper’s political action, both at the provincial and on the national level. It also seeks to provide an explanation of the functioning of the judiciary and define its role in the handling of disputes that emerged in the press.
