| Sumario: | The aim of this study is to characterize the actions of the corregidores, based on the analysis of local documentation, in order to review the classical approaches that have been done of these officials as effective instruments of monarchic centralization. On one hand, we outline the structural limitations that weight on the labour of the corregidores to give response to the orders issued by the monarchs and to make effective many of the judgments that these officials produce. On the other hand, we consider their interventions in different conflictive stages during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, such as the ilegal apropiation of communal lands; and the many conflicts produced locally through the very same action of the corregidores. |
