| Sumario: | This paper explores the characteristics of credit relationships and the profile of lenders which appears in the book of an Ávila’s public notary between 1487 and 1488. Here we found 250 credit records, a large part of which belongs to a small group of lenders. Besides, they appear taking part of many additional economic activities. First, we present a comprehensive examination of these loans, its temporal distribution and its amounts. Then, using supplementary documents from Ávila, we analyze the activities of the most prominent creditors. Finally, we intent a reconstruction of this sector’s social profile as part of the late medieval urban society. |
