Sumario:The article proposes a review and critical reading of the implications of public policies in different urban spaces of the world. The objective is to understand how, since the 1970s, urban transformation has its peculiarities but is added in the logic of capitalist accumulation on a global scale. For this, the cases were selected and systematized in the Poblenou Barcelona neighborhood (Spain), the French Quarter in New Orleans (United States), the Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain district of Berlin (Germany), 125th Street Harlem in Manhattan (United States), the historic center of Tequila (Mexico) and the Palermo neighborhood (Argentina). The argument of the article postulates that, although they are unique experiences, there is a common model in which the States converge in their different scales and that is to facilitate and promote private investment in traditional neighborhoods or areas considered peripheral. The introduction of neoliberal policies ended up consolidating the active role of economic actors in decision-making and in the execution of plans through the instrumentalization of public-private partnership. The trend of the implemented projects reconfigures the urban fabrics in renovated spaces and as a consequence they turn into processes of turification, gentrification andpatrimonialization of places. The methodological proposal is qualitative through a tracing, collection and organization of antecedents that approach the academic treatment of urban renewal processes in different parts of the globe.
