Our selection is centered on the Spanish-French contrastive analysis of cualquiera (adjective and pronoun, in its pre and post nominal versions), and its French equivalents   un, n’importe qu’, quelconque y quiconque. From the analysis carried out it arises that any pre nominal has quantificational variability and that it can be interpreted from two perspectives according to the context: a) a universal-type approach by which it can be associated with todo/n’importe, qu’/tout, and b) an existential-type approach that refers to the French indefinite un. On the contrary, any post nominal quelconque does not have any quantificational value of its own, and admits different indifference, ignorance and despise readings depending on the context.    El presente trabajo se propone analizar desde un punto de vista semántico el funcionamiento de ciertos indefinidos que plantean dificultades al momento de la traducción, ya sea porque sus valores difieren en ambas lenguas, ya sea porque para su interpretación requieren contextos explícitos o implícitos. Nuestra selección se centra en el análisis contrastivo español-francés de cualquiera (adjetivo y pronombre, en sus versiones pre y posnominal) y de sus equivalentes franceses un, n’importe qu’, quelconque y quiconque. Del análisis realizado se desprende que cualquiera prenominal posee variabilidad cuantificacional y que puede tener dos lecturas según los diferentes contextos: a) una lectura de carácter universal que permite asociarlo a todo/n’importe qu’/tout y b) una lectura de carácter existencial que remite al indefinido francés un. Por el contrario, cualquiera posnominal/quelconque no posee valor cuantificacional propio y admite según los contextos las lecturas de indiferencia, ignorancia y desprecio.
