Sumario:This paper presents a simple description of Law & Economics and its relationship with rules of civil liability. The objective is not to question the traditional method of apprehension (considering the content, meaning, and scope of norms according to their text, analogies, sources, 'spirit', etc.), but rather to draw attention to what Economics and Behavioral Sciences have to contribute to legislative and judicial decisions. The aim of this introductory presentation is to invite lawmakers, judges, professors and students to consider how incentives shape behavior in order to have laws and judgments that are closer to the desired outcome.
