Taking into account the large and diverse student population that inhabits the campus of the National University of Córdoba, and the linguistic varieties that are found, year after year, we investigate the perceptions that these speakers have about their own speech. In this sense, the research focuses not on the description of these varieties, but on the perspective of the speakers themselves regarding their “linguistic identity.”We assume that ethnographic work provides a view from the subjectivities and experiences of these migrant speakers to the study of the sociolinguistic representations that underlie linguistic ideologies. As an approach, ethnography is imbued with implicit conceptions about how representations of social life are constructed and how meaning is given to them through dialogue between research subjects. We also understand that from the observation of attitudes and reflection on stereotypes, such processes of production and reproduction of sociolinguistic representations can be analyzed. Este trabajo aborda las representaciones sociolingüísticas de lxs estudiantes universitarixs del norte argentino residentes en la ciudad de Córdoba, en torno a su identidad lingüística. Teniendo en cuenta la amplia y diversa población estudiantil que habita el campus de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, y las variedades lingüísticas que se encuentran, año tras año, indagamos las percepciones que estxs hablantes tienen sobre su propia habla. En este sentido, la investigación se enfoca no en la descripción de estas variedades, sino en la perspectiva de lxs propixs hablantes en torno a su “identidad lingüística”. Asumimos que el trabajo etnográfico aporta una mirada desde las subjetividades y experiencias propias de estxs hablantes migrantes al estudio de las representaciones sociolingüísticas que subyacen en las ideologías lingüísticas. Como enfoque, la etnografía está impregnada de concepciones implícitas acerca de cómo se construyen las representaciones de la vida social y cómo se les da sentido a partir del diálogo entre los sujetos de la investigación. Entendemos, también, que a partir de la observación de las actitudes y de la reflexión en torno a los estereotipos se pueden analizar tales procesos de producción y reproducción de las representaciones sociolingüísticas.
