Sumario:This article is related to the psycholinguistics discipline and aims to analyze the effects of Focus on Forms (FonFs) and pictures on the retention of verb noun collocations in EFL adult learners. For this purpose, one control group and two experimental groups participated in this research. One of the experimental groups, the rote learning technique plus pictures representing verb noun collocations was used, while for the other experimental group, translation plus pictures of verb noun collocations was used. The control group had no intervention of any kind. In order to assess retention, the verb noun collocations associated to the pictures in the textbook were used as a pre-test; after the intervention, the same pictures were used as an immediate post-test; and after one week, the same pictures were used as a delayed post-test. The result of this research shows that the intervention with pictures plus rote learning had a significant effect on the retention of verb noun collocations.
