Sumario:We posit a cognitive semantics approach to the semantic roles that dor can express in deverbal nouns. It is appropriate to consider this morpheme as a polysemous category through a cognitive view of categorization. Analytic tools provided by cognitive linguistics will be used to analyze this particular case of polysemy. The various semantic roles (AGENT, INSTRUMENT, AND LOCATIVE) that dor denotes don’t emerge chaotically nor arbitrarily. Synchronously, a coherent relationship between the different senses can be established, whose manifestation is related to an underlying verbal scheme, and whose intra-categorial hierarchy is organized by cognitive categorization principles. The scheme serves as the base (or figure) of dor derivational processes, by which different sections (or figures) of the scheme are profiled and represented by the semantic roles involved.
