In this article, we work with a corpus of statements made in mass media and political speeches, and we analyze their pragmatic and linguistic aspects in order to demonstrate the operability of such statements in the language-identity relationship. The focus of interest is to investigate the construction of subjectivities around the idea of "nation", taking as an axis, according to the territorial level, the "inward"(distinguishing between the center and the periphery) and "outward" orientations (divided into the local and the foreign.) The analysis allowed us to conclude that the perpetuation of a frame of reference (the center) is characterized by a lack of distinctive features and results in the exclusion of the regional and the ethnic from the Argentine. Consequently, instead of presenting a deficiency, a conception of purity is reproduced in the language, apparently independent of the historical-political conditions that forged it. En la lengua, en tanto bien social, se configuran y reproducen representaciones en torno a la/s identidad/es nacional/es. En este artículo, trabajamos con un corpus compuesto por enunciados proferidos en medios masivos de comunicación y en discursos políticos, en los que analizamos sus aspectos pragmáticos y lingüísticos con el fin de evidenciar la operatividad de dichos enunciados en la relación lengua-identidad. El foco de interés está puesto en indagar la construcción de subjetividades en torno a la idea de “nación”, tomando como eje, según el plano de lo territorial, las orientaciones “hacia adentro”: distinguiendo entre el centro y la periferia; y “hacia afuera”: escindido en lo local y lo extranjero. El análisis nos permitió concluir que la perpetuación de un marco de referencia (el centro) se caracteriza por no tener rasgos distintivos y deviene en la exclusión de lo regional y lo étnico de lo argentino. En consecuencia, en lugar de presentarse una carencia, se reproduce en la lengua una concepción de pureza en torno a la argentinidad en apariencia independiente de las condiciones histórico-políticas que la forjaron.
