Sumario:Starting from an understanding of the affect of love as a hegemony that, as Raymond Williams proposes, must change and evolve to sustain itself, this article seeks to approach the constitutive tensions of contemporary love through popular music. Framed in Eva Illouz’s sociology of love and Denis de Rougemont’s early contributions, this text interrogates love stories in Argentinian trap, through the album Temporada de Reggaetón, by Duki, and reggaeton, through Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti. Thus, the piece accounts for a love imaginary characterized by gender equality, in which a hedonistic postmodern love, which claims pleasure and fugacity, with consumption as a key element of romance, coexists with a suffering passion in which eternal love, pain and even cruelty still have a place.
