One, or perhaps the greatest of these challenges, refers us to the concept of the Anthropocene, a geological era in which the human species has become a geological force. From environmental studies, affective ecocriticism emerges as a new approach that recovers the dimension of emotions in public life and the ways in which we approach our environment. This work aims at exploring in Distintas formas de mirar el agua (2015) by Julio Llamazares, the emotions generated by the construction of a dam and the flooding of the habitat of the region’s inhabitants, particularly focusing on the emotions of Domingo’s family, who had to leave their home to start anew elsewhere. The text will be approached from the perspective of affective ecocriticism.   El énfasis en los afectos surge en respuesta a las transformaciones y desafíos que el actual contexto sociocultural impone. Uno –o, tal vez, el mayor– de esos desafíos nos remite al concepto del Antropoceno, era geológica en que la especie humana se ha convertido en una fuerza geológica. Desde los estudios sobre el ambiente surge la ecocrítica afectiva como un nuevo enfoque que recupera la dimensión de las emociones en la vida pública y las maneras en que nos aproximamos a nuestro entorno. Este trabajo propone abordar en Distintas formas de mirar el agua (2015), de Julio Llamazares, las emociones que genera la construcción de un dique y el anegamiento del hábitat de los habitantes de la región y, en particular, las emociones de la familia de Domingo, que tuvo que dejar su hogar en pos de empezar de nuevo en otro lugar. El texto se aborda desde la ecocrítica afectiva.
