Sumario:The general objective of this article is to offer a contextual approach to the preparation and development of techniques and instruments for an ethnographic study on infocommunicational uses and consumption in the city of Córdoba (Argentina). The specific objective is to systematize a series of theoretical-conceptual reflections that allow framing said survey. This framework consigns three interdependent dimensions of analysis, but which we present separately for expository reasons: 1) the historical dimension, relative to the material characteristics of the supports. That means the changes and continuities regarding the incorporation of new media distribution technologies; 2) the sociocultural dimension, relative to practices, social uses and specific infocommunicational consumption and geographically and temporally located. And 3) the significant dimension, which links the media and journalistic discourses in a context of new forms of mediatization, with special attention to the use of images in graphic media.
