Sumario:The purpose of the article is to problematize the characteristics of the minutes of sessions of municipal governments and to point out their potentialities as sources for the study of municipalization processes. The analysis arises from research on the relations between municipal and provincial governments in the process of national state building and, more specifically, from the implementation of the first rural municipalities in the Estado de Buenos Aires. It also seeks to give greater visibility to the current municipal archives and deliberative councils as repositories of the books of minutes of sessions.
